Three Winter Maintenance Solutions For Fiber Laser Cutting Machine

In winter, the laser source of fiber lasercutting machine often happens failure. When the temperature of the machinecooling liquid is lower than the “freezing point” temperature, thecooling liquid will solidify and form a solid. The volume will become largerduring the solidification process, which will cause water circulation pipes andsealed connections damage. In order to avoid damage to the laser source, laserhead and water chiller caused by solidification of the coolant, ShandongReaying Machinery Co., Ltd. summarized three solutions for you.

  1. If you ensure there is no poweroutage in the local area, do not turn off the water chiller at night. At thesame time, for energy saving reasons, please adjust the temperature of Lowtemperature (L) and High temperature (H) water to 5 ~ 10 °C to ensure that thecoolant is in circulation and the temperature is not lower than freezing point.
  2. Drain the cooling liquid in thelaser source and water chiller after each use of the machine.
    1) Remove the water pipe from the WaterInlet from the Water Chiller, and then blow the Water Inlet with nitrogen orcompressed air (pressure is about 5 Bar) until the residual liquid in the WaterChiller is blown clean from the Water Outlet.
    2) Remove the water pipe from the WaterInlet from the Laser Source, and then blow the Water Inlet with nitrogen orcompressed air (air pressure is about 5 Bar) until the residual water in the LaserSource is blown clean from the Water Outlet. Then use a water pipe to short connectthe Inlet and Outlet or block with rubbers to prevent dust contaminating theinside of the laser.
    3) Water Chiller drainage method:Open the lower drain valve of the Water Chiller, drain the water of the WaterChiller. If necessary, tilt the Water Chiller to a certain angle to make the WaterOutlet the lowest point.
  3. Use antifreeze as the coolingliquid: Antifreeze must be used when cannot meet above two solutions.
    The baseliquid of antifreeze is generally composed of alcohol and water. It has highboiling point, small mutation, moderate viscosity and small change withtemperature, good thermal stability and does not corrode metal parts and rubberhoses. The freezing point should be about 5 °C lower than the lowesttemperature in the environment.

Antifreezeselection
Recommendusing a special brand of antifreeze, please do not use ethanol to instead of.
It isrecommended to use the DowthemSR-1 or CLARIANT brand represented by DowChemical in the United States. There are two types of antifreeze for lasersystems:
1) Antifrogen® N Cholesterol-Water;
2) Antifrogen® L propylene glycol-water type;
Note: Antifreeze cannot be used all year round. Thepipeline must be cleaned with deionized or distilled water after the winter.And then use deionized or distilled water to be the cooling liquid.

Winternotes:

  1. Before starting the machine, itis necessary to check the important parts such as the laser water circulationsystem and the protective mirror to prevent it from freezing.
  2. Once the Laser Source freezes,it cannot be forced out the laser beam. It is necessary to wait for the lasercooling system to return to normal before the work. Forcing light out duringfreezing can cause internal damage to the laser and damage to the lens by thelaser head.
  3. After starting the WaterChiller, first check the readings of the two temperature zones. If the pressureor flow alarms, the water system must be checked to see if the valve is notopen or the inside of the water chiller is frozen.
  4. After the Water Chiller is in normal working,the water temperature in the low temperature is lower than the lowesttemperature allowed by the laser machine, and it cannot be heated for a longtime. Raise up 5 °C higher for two temperature zones, details you can check theinstruction. After the temperature rises, restore the two temperature zonesettings (normally, the set temperature of the low temperature water is 20-25 °C, and the set temperature of the high temperature water is 25- 35 ° C).
